Welcome to Year 4

Mr Small and Mrs Little are the class teachers. Mrs Henderson-McCoy supports Year 4 with their learning.

Forest School

Forest school this year will be taking place on a Tuesday morning with Mrs David and teaching staff. Please ensure children have their wellies, in a named bag, at the ready and warm navy sweatshirt for the potentially cold weather. Please note: Forest School uniform is navy blue tracksuit bottoms and a white polo t-shirt. We supply the waterproof, thorn and nettle proof bib-and-brace and jackets.

Our outdoor games lessons will normally be on a Wednesday morning. While the weather is mild their indoor kit with trainers will be fine. If there is a bit of a chill then their school cardigan or sweatshirt will be enough to put on top. If the weather gets colder then it would be a good idea to send in a pair of tracksuit bottoms to keep at school. We will aim to be outside for the majority of this term so warmer kit is essential.

Indoor PE will be taught on a Friday afternoon. The children will be beginning with gymnastics this term.

Please ensure that your child has the correct kit in school every day as there may be times when PE is taught on a different day.

Mantle of the expert

This term we have been  basing our learning on a Michael Morpurgo book called Kensuke's Kingdom exploring the geography of the world, including oceans, continents and geographical features. We have compared the similarities and differences of continents visited by the characters in the book.

Mantle of the expert is how we plan to deliver exciting and engaging topic work while learning many skills from right across the curriculum, including English and Maths, in real and meaningful and therefore purposeful and memorable situations.

As this is the children's last term at Feckenham First School there will be a real emphasis on getting the children ready for their next school. This will include transition days and activities and preparing the children academically and emotionally for the next step in their school lives.
